Submitted on March 14, 2010 One Comment

Around the world engineers are being sought as the need for more infrastructures arise. According to a study, engineering is on the top five of careers that, aside from being in demand, are also the most financially rewarding. So what are the top engineering careers in terms of demand? Here is a list of engineering careers that will continue to be in demand for the next several years:

Careers

Computer Hardware Engineers

The computer hardware engineer is one of the latest engineering jobs to be created and also happens to be one of the most lucrative. It is through this person that many computers are created and come to life, and he has a responsibility to make sure each and every part of the computer works to perfection. He also has a hand in designing computer chips and in the assembly and installation of businesses’ computer system.

Electrical Engineers

Electrical engineers are in demand as much as computer hardware engineers are. Electrical engineers play a vital role in the creation and manufacturing of any electrical device. They also lend a hand in building, installing, repairing and servicing electrical instruments. They are the doctors to our electrical devices.

Mechanical Engineers

Mechanical engineers design machines and automobiles for transport, defense, and for the transit of commodities. They are said to be the jack-of-all trades in the field of engineering, as their participation is required in almost every field of technology. It is no question then why mechanical engineers are one of the best paid even with stiff competition among their field. Students take up mechanical engineering more than the other fields of engineering, and every year as the demand for more skilled mechanical engineer grows, the curriculum understandably gets tougher for the students.

Careers

Environmental Engineers

Environmental Engineers are responsible for using engineering and scientific principles in order to create environment-friendly programs and play a key role in implementing them.

One of the most challenging tasks that are given to environmental engineers is to think of possible solutions to improve the quality of air, land and water resources that are constantly being used by mankind today. It is a huge task, given that they have to balance man’s need for these natural resources and at the same time aim for sustainable development and proper care for the Earth.

There are other lucrative engineering jobs like Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Nuclear Engineering. Many of these engineering courses require a college degree before you can even take up engineering itself, making others think twice before deciding to become an engineer. But the reward for hard work and perseverance is usually landing the job of your dreams.
